A 1930s brass fly ashtray made in Italy — a sculptural object with hinged wings that lift to reveal its secret compartment. This creature has lived around my studio for years, more as a companion than a utility.

Its patina carries decades of touch, and the mechanism still moves with a satisfying weight. Functional yet whimsical, it exists somewhere between relic and pet — a reminder that even the smallest objects can outlast us with personality intact.
