A sculptural vintage ashtray from my grandparents’ home — made by Lane & Co., Van Nuys, California. Its color sits somewhere between chartreuse and olive, the kind of green that only exists in the 1970s and memory.

Originally an ashtray, it’s since lived many lives: as a catch-all, a shallow vase, a resting place for a single stem, or a dish for palo santo. The form feels both utilitarian and ornamental, perfectly imperfect in its patina.
